The Disability Rights Network of PA is working with the Movie Access For All Coalition to obtain closed captioning technology in Regal Cinemas throughout Pennsylvania.Although we may use a lawsuit to obtain access, none has been filed at this time. The group has been collecting surveys and information to determine interest in types of captioning and cinema location from members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. This information is compiled on a regular basis and will be used to determine next legal steps, such as bringing an individual or class action lawsuit against Regal. Although this group also supports open captioning, the primary goal is to require Regal Cinemas to use closed captioning technology so that individuals will have access to any movie offered at any time. We appreciate your interest in bringing closed captioning to theaters in Pennsylvania. In order to have your information added to our database, we will ask you to fill out answers to our online survey located under the heading "Movie Access For All" on the cilcp.org website. You can fill out the survey even if you do not live near a Regal Cinema. If you reside near a Regal cinema and you wish to access closed captioning technology, we will contact you again to ask for more information related to your movie viewing. After emailing the answers, you will not need to do anything further. If the group decides to file a lawsuit at a later time, you will be notified, and you will be given more information about how the group intends to proceed.
