| The ADA (The Americans with Disabilities Act) mandates that sign language interpreters must be provided to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. There is a charge for this service and the ADA states that the service provider has the responsibility to pay for this service. For more information about the ADA please go to nad.org/ADAtitleIII Pennsylvania Act 57 requires that all sign language interpreters are RID or NAD certified as well as registered in the state of Pennsylvania. If you would like to request a sign language interpreter you may either call our office or submit a request online Please give us as much time as possible (AT LEAST 2 WEEKS) to fill a job. However in most cases we can provide you with an interpreter with short notice. Contact our office for rates, policies, and procedures information. We do NOT charge portal to portal. We do charge .585 a mile for the interpreter´s mileage and all jobs are scheduled at a 2 hour minimum. A travel rate will be negotiated for out of town interpreters. We will do our best to find the most qualified sign language interpreter closest to the assignment location before expanding our search. We also require two full business days, not 48 hours to cancel without being charged. An example would be: A Friday job must be canceled by Tuesday at 4pm in order to not be billed for the contracted time. |
