Medical Interpreting WorkshopThis workshop focuses on technique and practical skills for working in medical situations. We will explore interpreting for labor and delivery, routine appointments, surgery and mental health appointments. Participants will practice voicing for Deaf patients. This workshop will explore ethical issues such as those found on the NIC performance test. ASL vocabulary and classifiers related to medical interpreting will be explored. Presenter Biography: Tara Potterveld, R.I.D. CT & CI, SC:L, holds a B.A. in Linguistics of ASL and a M.A. in Art from California State University at Northridge. Tara has interpreted many medical assignments, including childbirth, surgery, and mental health. Target Audience: Deaf and Hearing Interpreters Workshop limited to 18 participants. Register early!
